Are Activision Getting Lazy?

WARNING: This post is based on recent rumours and at the time of writing this there is no hard evidence or any definite truth.

I have read an article revealing a possible cause for Nintendo's creation of the Wii U pro controller. It has be speculated that Activision would refuse to bring big third party games to Wii U if there was no conventional controller. Now this could be great as it encourages more developers to bring games to the Wii U without redesigning gameplay features for the tablet controller. As a result more people may be encouraged to buy Wii U as there may be a better selection of games.

On the other hand, it could be viewed that Activision are being a bit lazy on this one. They are effectively saying they can't be bothered making additional features for the Wii U gamepad, which could make various games like Call Of Duty better. I'm not going into various details as COD needs to be made better anyway. There is what I believe to be an inevitable consequence to this if it is true. With the conventional controller there is the possibility that less and less games will be developed for use with the Wii U gamepad, making it just another common console. It may come to the point where we only rely on Nintendo for games using the gamepad, even though these would all be great.

So are Activision being lazy? Well it's not clear at this point as we do not know if the rumours are true. If more information arises i'll be sure to edit this post. I'm not saying the Wii U pro controller is a bad idea, it will have various good uses, but it isn't great for Nintendo to always be pushed around by big companies abusing there pull on developers. All that's left is for everyone else to decide.
